Nor did my husband for that matter. If you are a woman that isn't comfortable wearing masculine colognes than this isn't for you. My husband wasn't especially helpful with his feedback, he just said "yeah it smells like cologne." I guess what he means is it isn't memorable... and for the price tag it really needs to be.

The bergamot and bitter orange really stand out and the earthy notes give it depth. Declaration is very light on the patchouli. Sometimes patchouli drowns out my enjoyment of a fragrance, but not in this case. A really beautiful scent, though it doesn't last long on my skin.

    Rated 4 out of 5 by from Can't go wrong w Cartier I love wearing Cartier's men's fragrances,and I'm a woman. I think they're fresh and neutral enough that they aren't overly masculine. This one in particular you can really smell the bergamot and I pick up cedar wood too.

    Rated 2 out of 5 by from like spraying $80 water Like many women, I discovered Declaration via a free sample. It wasn't instant love - at first I thought it was too musky, but the scent turned into a wonderful peppery smell that definitely felt feminine. I was surprised when I read it was a cologne for me. I ordered it for myself anyway because I was in love. I don't usually write reviews. I've been a sephora addict for a verrrry long time now. This is the first review I felt compelled to write - mainly because I'm completely confused. Is the liquid in samples stronger or more concentrated than the $80 bottle? Is the cologne in the bottle somehow watered down? Within 3 hours of getting my bottle, I sprayed a third of it on my flesh/clothes/hair. Again and again. Because literally within minutes of spraying, the scent just disappeared. My husband couldn't believe how much I was dousing myself, and you couldn't even get a trace of it after minutes of applying. This was within days of falling in love with the sample (which also didn't have great staying power, but at least it stuck around for a couple hours...). Very disappointed. Can you just replace my $80 bottle with a few more samples?
