Rated 5 out of 5 by Connie94 from Gorgeous Spicy, warm, sweet - basically an explosion at the spice factory. Cosy and sensual, envelops you in a sweet cloud. It's a timeless classic, despite being an older release it seems like it could never date. Has a slight cola edge to it. Balsamic and gothy, lasts for days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ArganAffection from Best version of Opium If you like sandalwood, clove, etc. this is for you. It’s evocative of incense but lighter and wearable, at least in evening. This doesn’t read as “mature” to me as other reviewers have said, but if you’ve ever enjoyed a spritz or seven of fruity or vanilla-scented body mists…this is likely not your speed. I love it. Yves Saint-Laurent spent time in Morocco and it reminds me of scents loved there.

My stepmom wore it and after searching for the right scent, I went back to my childhood and remembered how I loved this because of the way it resembles natural oils. I don’t get headaches from Opium and it goes well with my chemistry! It has a very sweet musk smell that goes perfectly with my chemistry.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Opium was launched in 1977 at the height of the disco era, during which I was a teenager. I first smelled Opium at the now defunct Marshall Field's department store here in Chicago. I fell in love that day and bought my first bottle at age 18. I'm 62 (soon to be 63) and though the formulation has changed a bit, I still love it AND YES I'M A GRANDMA!!! I get so heated when I read reviews by younger women saying older perfumes smell like old ladies. Well guess what suga, that's exactly what we were back in those days...LADIES! Not every woman wants to smell like a pound cake, pumpkin pie, caramel apples, flowers, fruit and candy! I'll keep on using my Opium, Obsession, Magie Noire and my other "old lady" scents thank you very much!!!
